If you don't see any lights (I didn't at first) , lightly but firmly press the mouse deeper into the cradle until the lights show up. I came back to write this review only to find the price had suddenly dropped to $55.49. Full Setpoint uninstall, deleted the Program Files/Logitech/Setpoint directory to be really sure it was completely gone and reinstalled. I really hope Logitechs programmers remedy this, as once you see a cool button feature it's really a let down to find you can't move it to some other button when you need to. It has an auto-shift feature (you can adjust or turn this off in the drivers) such that you can have a regular detent scroll, until you whip the wheel very fast up or down.
(Mine sat in the cradle for over an hour the first time before I realized it wasn't charging at all). It even referred to RED LED lights and there ARE NONE. You should now see a series of green LED's, the bottom-most a battery icon, and 3 square lights above it flashing upward as it charges. You'd think this obvious info would be in the Logitech user's manual -yeah, right.
This top button had 6 main choices and an Others list of 17. Much better.Plug in the charging stand, TURN ON the mouse (switch is on the bottom), and set it in the stand. Big improvement from the reviews 3 years ago when this mouse only lasted 1 day on a charge.Tuning all the mouse speeds and accelerations took me awhile until I had it just the way I wanted it. LOL. Nearly didn't buy this mouse after looking at the top reviews on it here at Amazon.
Clearly the documentation never got updated over the years while the mouse did.After my first day of use, a tab in the Setpoint drivers told me I still had 14 days left on the battery. You can also configure the Wheel button to manually shift this mode as described in the product review.The only downside I've found so far with the mouse is minor. Bad idea -you know what they say about assuming. Very Nice. The people at Logitech who wrote the drivers, for some unfathomable reason, still wish to force the user to use certain mouse buttons in certain ways.
Then I noticed they were all written in 2006 or 2007.I bought the mouse at Amazon a few days ago for $74.99. Going to write customer service about this.In any case, here's some advice to get the most out of your mouse:Fully uninstall any old Logitech Setpoint drivers before you start. As soon as you stop the mouse the detent re-engages. I like fast scrolling so I set this at 3 lines move (for every one line/detent it gets from the mouse) and re-applied and saved this setting.3) Now I went back to adjusting scroll speed and acceleration within Setpoint and had very good results.Once it's finally adjusted to preference, the scroll wheel is pretty amazing. Scrolling was especially difficult until I realized a couple of things:1) Some apps only look at the mouse setting the first time they start up (like FireFox) so after you change scroll settings you need to restart the app and then retest.2) Windows has it's own mouse scroll settings You can adjust from the Control Panel -> Mouse -> Scroll tab and Setpoint seemed to be ignoring this at first. Very cool.
While the side buttons had 7 main choices and an Others list of 35. The list of commands you can program for this button is much more limited than say the other buttons off to the side of the mouse. I live at my keyboard, so the big reason I bought this mouse was to allow me the option to vary the configuration as needed so I could avoid any repetative stresses on my hands or wrists.
Take the button just behind the scroll wheel for instance. The first time I just installed the newer drivers assuming it would uninstall the older driver if needed. At that point it will temporarily disengage the detent, and go into free-spin mode allowing you to scroll super-fast.
It consisted of 5 pages and 90% of that was in foreign languages. Was having a very hard time trying to configure the scroll wheel to work correctly. The flashing green lights will start turning solid green one at a time until fully charged, which took about 2 to 3 hours.
The automatic fast scroll works sporadically in other apps such as Word. I think a flatter button would be more comfortable.5. the automatic fast scroll works beautifully in Internet Explorer, but only "OK" in Firefox.
I have average size hands.4. The thumb "wheel" is too hard to push / rotate.6. The thumb "wheel" is ergonomically uncomfortable.
Things i don't like about this mouse:1. The thumb "wheel" is positioned too far forward. The thumb "wheel" just has a mushy feel to it.I am disappointed overall with the mouse because i was hoping the task flip wheel / button whatever would speed up my production.
2. In fact the only place the fast scroll works reliably well is in Internet Explorer, which i don't use.3.
I primary chose it because it was wireless and came with a recharging station. If you give it a fast flick, it will disengage the clicking mechanism and act as a free-wheel allowing for very fast scrolling.
Aside from things like that though, it charges quickly, seems to hold its charge for a long time, and feels good in my hand along with gliding easily. Once the wheel slows down it goes back into precision (clicking) mode for fine control.
I really enjoy this mouse. I like how the scroll wheel is basically a fly-wheel design.
I'd say this is probably one of the nicest mouses I've ever owned. I work as a web developer, and wanted to reduce clutter on my desk.
I had only skimmed the feature list of it, but I am extremely impressed with it.
I bought another Logitech mouse for travel when I sent the first off for replacement and now that one isn't recognizing it's receiver. I contacted Logitech, and after having to spend $18 to ship the mouse back to them, and 4 weeks of waiting I got a replacement mouse and charger. All in all this has been a total waste of money. the thing will not hold a charge.
I originally bought the MX revolution back in March of last year. I've wasted so much money with Logitech. Worst of all. It seemed like a cool, multi-function mouse.
It works for about 10 minutes and then I have to recharge it. don't make the same mistake. It lasted about 4 months and then the battery light started flashing red. That one only worked for about 3 months.
Expose works flawlessly, and the battery lasts for at least a week depending on usage. I bought the mouse a few weeks ago and it works great with OS X. There is another version of this mouse specified for OS X, but don't waste the extra money.
